What are the benefits of attending a Christian college?

Christian colleges integrate faith and education. This can provide an environment that nurtures spiritual growth while learning. At Christian colleges, most professors will share the beliefs of Christian students, so much of what is taught will be presented through a Christian perspective, allowing students to not only learn, but see how their faith can apply to their future careers and the world around them. This can be a key step in deepening one’s faith and understanding of the Christian worldview.

Christian colleges are also typically much smaller than state colleges or public institutions. This means that classes are much smaller, which lends to much more personalized learning as the professors can interact with a more manageable number of students. Many students are more comfortable speaking up in smaller classes, which can lead to rich discussions and more participation from students in the classes. Additionally, students are more likely to get to know each other in smaller classes and build relationships to assist and keep each other accountable in their academic journeys.

Christian Colleges offer like-minded community. Professors and most other students will share the Christian faith, so students have academic and spiritual support from professors and friendship and accountability from peers. Christian colleges also offer chapels, campus ministries, bible studies, and many other events to encourage student’s spiritual growth and community interaction.

Along with spiritual events, Christian colleges also offer many of the same clubs and fun events that secular colleges do but omit the sort of partying that encourage lewd and immoral behavior. There are plenty of activities and outings to be had at a Christian college that are a lot of fun and don’t involve compromising your morals.

Christian colleges also offer diversity in their communities. Like secular colleges, students come from all around and create a mix of ethnicities, backgrounds, and political views on campus. While at a Christian college, a mix of religions is not as common, a mix of stories and testimonies is. The diversity to be found at a Christian college is a blessing, and students benefit from sharing their testimonies, sharing life lessons and experiences that strengthened them, and learning from each other’s perspectives.
