Christian colleges, being part of the Christian faith, aim to provide a space for students to grow spiritually while completing their studies. Along with that, they expect that their students will behave in a way that is in line with biblical standards and is respectful to a community that values those standards.
How the school views that respect and in what ways those standards are met is outlined in their student handbook. All colleges, Christian and secular alike, have student handbooks that detail rules and restrictions for students, substances, and behavior. The differences in student handbooks between Christian colleges and secular schools will be noticeable, especially in areas of dress code, dorm rules, and possibly even substance rules (i.e. Alcohol and drugs).
The differences in student handbooks between other Christian colleges may not vary as much, but there will still be some small differences. Most colleges have students sign an agreement that states that they have read and understand the student handbook and will comply with its rules. Deviation or breaking of the rules in the student handbook could result in fines, restriction of privileges, suspension, or even expulsion.
Students should make sure that they have a copy of the student handbook, which can usually be downloaded from the college's website, and that they have read through it.
